Alessandra Guedes

Alessandra Guedes is the manager for gender and development research at UNICEF Innocenti -- Global Office of Research and Foresight. She has worked for the past 30 years in the fields of sexual and reproductive health and rights, violence prevention, international development, and public health. She joined Innocenti in 2019 as the gender and development manager to lead a research program focusing on the gender dimensions of child protection. Previously, Guedes served as the World Health Organization regional advisor for the Americas on family violence prevention (2009–19) and as senior advisor, sexual and reproductive health at the International Planned Parenthood Federation (1999–2003). She has held many voluntary positions, including as vice president of the board of Promundo (currently Equimundo) and co-chair of the Sexual Violence Research Initiative’s Leadership Council, a role she continues to occupy. She holds degrees in public health, art therapy, and art.
